FAQ

  • What's the difference between g-string, bikini, Brazilian, Hollywood and xxx wax?
A bikini wax is all the hair removed that would show outside a normal bikini, and similarly with a g-string wax. we say a brazilian is all the hair removed although if you would like a strip left just let your specialist know. A hollywood wax and xxx wax are just different names for a brazilian
  • How long should my hair be for waxing?
The hair should be at least 8-15mm or a grain of rice for best results. If you have coarse hair it should be closer to 15mm for the first few waxes. Once the hair becomes finer it can be waxed at a shorter length. It may take up to three waxing treatments to achieve smooth skin due to the fact that hair grows in stages and all of your hair is never at the same stage. It is very important to avoid shaving between waxing appointments, as this will interrupt the process and stimulate the hair growth again.
  • How long will results last?
After a your first waxing, the results can last 3 to 6 weeks depending on the your hair re-growth rate. In most cases, hair growth is minimal during the first week or two and noticeably increases in the third and fourth week. Heat stimulates the hair, therefore hair grows quicker in the summer months than in the winter. With regular waxing the length of time between treatments will increase. Continued regular waxing results in sparse hair re-growth over time.
  • What is a Brazilian Wax?
Brazilian waxing is the hair removal in and around the perineum vagina and anus. Some people it can mean the removal of all the hair from the bikini area, and to others it can be a strip, shape or triangle. Let your specialist know what your wants are during your consultation.
  • What are some pre-appointment guidelines I should follow?
No shaving in between appointments. Body hygiene is extremely important, please shower immediately prior to your appointment. Exfoliate the area you plan to get waxed 24 or 48 hours in advance. Come as comfortable as possible in loose clothing to avoid chafing and irritation. Check your skin prior to our appointment. Make sure there is no irritation or broken skin. Drink plenty of water prior to your appointment to reduce rash development. Take a warm bath to hydrate the skin.
  • What are some post appointment guidelines I should follow?
Avoid the sun immediately after waxing and wear sun screen; recently waxed areas are prone to hyperpigmentation (permanent darkening of the skin) if exposed to the sun or solarium. avoid saunas, steam rooms, whirlpools and other heated sources for at least 48 hours. We highly recommend no sexual encounters for 12-24 hours after an intimate waxing. Avoid tight clothing after waxing, especially in the waxed areas. tight clothing may result in irritation and ingrown hairs. No hot baths, hot showers or sexual activity for 24 hours after a service. While your pores are open, they are vulnerable to irritation by the extreme temperatures and infection by bacteria. As hair becomes softer and finer occasionally the hairs are trapped inside the follicle turning into ingrown hairs. prevention of these is easy... you need to exfoliate 2 - 3 times per week. If ingrown hairs persist, or even as a preventative measure, we recommend coming in for a "naughty extraction" and a new consultation. Hydration of your skin assists with prevention of ingrown hairs and a more comfortable wax with future treatments. Try a light moisturizer such as coconut and vanilla lotion. To make the most of your waxing treatment it is important to maintain some sort of cycle by waxing every 4 - 6 weeks. Hairs renew themselves within this time and having irregular waxing treatments means you may have shorter hairs shooting through in-between. If you have any further questions please be sure to ask your specialist.
