Hi, I’m Kimyatta Nyree, licensed esthetician and master waxer. I’ve wanted to be an entrepreneur since I was a little girl. I had my very first business as a saleswoman at 8 years old. I would draw little girls with different hairstyles and then knock on my friends door and asked their mom would she like to hire me to come their hair. The answer was always no but that didn’t discourage or detour me.
In my early twenties, I had an eye for makeup. Deciding that skincare knowledge would be important, I enrolled in beauty school for esthetics and found my passion serving people through skin. Throughout my 21 years as an esthetician, I had an opportunity to work for a skincare company, a high end spa in San Francisco and finally with a friend who owned a small spa in Oakland. That is where I build my clientele. I enjoyed waxing my clients, working with them on their skincare goals and supporting them through life’s challenges.
In 2008, I opened my studio in an Oakland neighborhood named Uptown. Amongst the the theaters, art galleries, diverse eateries and bars, you will find a small quaint relaxing space, offering amazing facial treatments while specializing in Brazilian wax service. As I grew in knowledge my business grew as well. Soon I had as many waxing clients as I did facial clients. I soon realized two things. One, I enjoyed working with people, building connections and hearing about how I’ve impacted their lives. Two, I LOVED WAXING and the self confidence my clients display immediately after having the service done. I then remembered a conversation my mom had with me when I was about 10 or so. She said, “You don’t let some man play with your cat!” She didn’t share any further details, which left me feeling like I had done something wrong. I now understand her need to protect me the best way she knew how, through fear.
This is why I named my waxing brand IS YOUR KITTY FRISKY. To reclaim a part of my womanly essence and help other women who have experienced something similar do the same. As a woman I am able to experience pleasure and create life. There’s no room for shame.
My mission for clients is to create a waxing experience that leaves you feeling safe, seen, heard and empowered so that you walk through the world free, self assured and confident. All kitties are frisky. Shouldn’t yours be??
